IN OTHER WORDS

Gold Coast celebrity and all around ripper Luke Munro will enjoy his first full season on the prestigious Foster¡¦s ASP World Tour in 2007. Long touted as one of Australia¡¦s most promising young exports, the well built natural footer has taken his time ascending to professional surfing¡¦s elite level. Although slowly easing into the ASP WQS, the former Australasian Junior Series champion put together a solid year in 2006 to finish 18th. Getting the nod from the World Professional Surfers (WPS), in large part due to his stellar performance last season including a win at the Sri Lanken Airlines Pro presented by Oakley, Munro received the final WPS wildcard garnering the last spot on the this season¡¦s highly coveted Dream Tour. Munro¡¦s past experience on the Foster¡¦s ASP World Tour (beating perennial favorite Mick Fanning at home on the Goldy as a wildcard in 2004), and his close friendship with eight time ASP World Champion Kelly Slater, will prove invaluable in his rookie season and he¡¦ll be one to keep an eye on.
